Life Education - Our Charity for 2010

Life Education Australia provides positive programs that develop the social skills and knowledge necessary for effective decision-making, communication, negotiation, peer resistance and refusal in drug-related situations.

Life Education encourages respect for the uniqueness of each individual, and teaches the skills to assert confidently that individuality, especially in social settings with friends.

Life Education aims, in partnership with schools and the community, to help reduce tobacco use and illegal drug use among young people; encourage them to avoid or delay alcohol use; and reduce the harms associated with any drug use.

Life Education's primary schools programs which commenced in 1979 are delivered by 120 full-time and part-time educators using Life Education's national network of more than 90 mobile and static classrooms, complemented by direct delivery in school classrooms. Over 750,000 students participate in the program each year.

Life Education's programs are based on the latest research, and provide high quality drug education featuring role-play; social skills training; correction of common myths; and varied, fast-moving and interactive activities facilitated by excellent educators assisted by the latest multi-media technology.

Children in the Tweed Shire are to benefit from
2010 ‘Speed on Tweed’

The Rotary Club of Murwillumbah is proud to announce Life Education as the nominated Charity for the ‘Speed on Tweed’ event to be held in Murwillumbah between 10-12 September 10-12 2010.

Rotary Club of Murwillumbah representative, Mr Tonny van’t Riet was pleased that the club could support such an important service, inviting all Tweed regional service clubs to form a supporters group to raise vital funds for the Life Eduction program in the lead up to ‘Speed on Tweed’ in September.

“We are honoured to be the recipient of monies donated which will benefit the Tweed community,” said Life Education NSW Chairman, the Hon Alan Cadman OAM.

“Life Education works with local schools, families and other organisations in the community who believe that protecting our children is the highest priority.

5,479 children in the Tweed Shire attended Life Education’s drug and health programs when the Mobile Learning Centre visited their schools in 2009. Life Education has visited Tweed schools in terms 1 & 2 this year and will recommence school visits in late July.

Murwillumbah has been a critical centre to Life Education as it was the first area where the late Ted Noffs had vision of the Life Education Mobile Learning Centre. It is a credit to the supporters of Life Education in this area that we have been delivering programs for almost 30 years”, said Mr Cadman.
